I’ve just come across this brilliant ad from IBM. Have you ever worked in an organisation where brainstorming was as painful as this?

Hehe. It may be tedious as a bainstorming exercise, but when viewing the video on Monday morning it certainly looked tempting. I suggest we use the technique every day from 9.00-10.30.

Have I experienced equally painful brainstorming? Well, yes! Albeit in other ways. Ever notice how Danes find it almost impossible NOT to comment immediately on ideas tabled? Or (infinitely worse) how they tend to insist on agreement straight away? When that (obviously) fails to happen, the collective instinct seems to jump on the LAST idea tabled, presumably on the assumption that the idea in question stands on the shoulders of all the others, guaranteeing maximum consensus … In a way, it’s oddly endearing. If only it didn’t interfere so with actual work. Ah, well.

I guess the best practice then, would be to always save your best idea to last! I would like to do this more, but I rarely have more than one idea.
