Write shorter sentences, sell more books
I just found this post which I guarantee will be of interest to anyone who crafts words for a living. So that’s pretty much anyone in the communications industry. And if you’re reading this, that includes YOU!

Hehe. Funny you should mention this, because Andy Maslen, author of Write to sell, suggests that everyone use the Readability stats in Microsoft Word to check their sales writing, and he advises a Flesch Reading Ease score of over 60% (this is based on sentence length and the number of long words used, the higher the score, the better) and I have to say, I have found it quite addictive.
By the way, that was probably the longest sentence I have written for about 15 years.
You can read more about Andy here:

It’s great when a client goes along with the simplicity in writing, as so many companies make their messages too complex. One of our clients has gone so far as to have “Simplify, simplify” as one of its brand and style principles. And anyone writing for that company needs to follow this principle.
